The Paloma PH16FS water heater must be vented to a side wall. The Paloma PH-16 water heater can only be installed with a horizontal vent termination. You can have a vertical section not to exceed 16'5". If the vertical section exceeds 24", then you will need to install the special Paloma Condensate Trap fitting.

Minimum Clearance: 1/2" at the sides; 0" at the rear with support bracket (If the mounting wall is not flat, the minimum of 3/8" between the wall and back cover is required.); 10" at the top; 12" at the bottom and 12" at the front. (24" minimum recommended front clearance for service and maintenance). WARNING: "B" vent is not permitted. Note: Special Venting - The adapter, vent pipe, elbow, vent terminal, etc. should be UL 1738 Certified Stainless Steel Venting Material (e.g. AL29-4C) that is manufactured by Heat-fab Inc. (see accessories below).

Steps:
1. Order the Adapter. Every Paloma PH16FS requires a vent collar adapter for proper installation of vent pipe.
2. Order the amount of Vertical Pipe needed (available in 6", 12", 18", 24", 37.5" and adjustable length). After the adapter the vent may run vertical up to 16'5".
3. For vertical runs greater than 24" from the top of heater order the Paloma Condensate Trap.
4. Order a 90 Degree Elbow. After the vertical run the vent will need to turn 90 degrees in order to vent out the side.
5. Order the amount of Horizontal Pipe needed (available in 6", 12", 18", 24", 37.5" and adjustable length). This pipe will go through the wall thimble connect to the 90 degree elbow and to the 90 degree screened termination.
6. For running vent through combustible wall you will need the Wall Thimble as a heat shield.
7. Order the Termination. Screened 90 degree elbow used for terminating vent pipe outside and to keep objects out of vent.
