PERFORMANCE
Model PH16FS is rated at 118,000 btu/hour maximum input (Propane and Natural Gas).
This is usually a one shower at a time water heater unless you live in a warm climate where your winter
water temp. stays above 70F. Please read DETAILED Specifications and Installation
Instructions before ordering.
SPECIFICATIONS (SUMMARY)
Start Up Flow Rate: 0.92 gal/min. If you set the PH16FS to make 120F degree HOT water
and your entering COLD water is 40F, you will get about 2.4 gal/min. and never run out.
With
entering COLD water at 50F you will get 2.7 gal/min.
With
entering COLD water at 70F you will get 3.7 gal/min.
The Paloma PH16FS will allow a greater volume of hot water flow if the water is set at lower temperatures,
such as, 110F, 105F, etc.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Set temperature of hot water on the operation panel. The computer will detect the incoming
water temperature and calculate necessary heat to achieve set temperature. Heated water temperature will
be monitored upon exiting, in case adjustments are needed. The electronic system detects temperature of
incoming water and activates the burner as water flows through the controls, heating it instantaneously
as it flows - and only when it flows - through the highly efficient heat exchanger. There is no
holding tank with reserve water. Digital setting allows you to choose anywhere between 100°F and 120°F.
And since it is electronically controlled, it maintains the same temperature. The Paloma PH16FS tankless
water heater can deliver 162 GPH (gallons per hour) at 70°F temperature rise. For example, if you
wish to have 120°F of hot water when the incoming water is 50°F, you will get 162 gallons of 120°F
(50°F + 70°F) hot water per hour. If the incoming water is warmer, you will get more than 162
GPH.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE PALOMA PH-16FS AND A TANK TYPE WATER HEATER?
A storage tank type water heater has limited supply of hot water. It will eventually run
out of it and will force you to wait until the water gets heated up.
A storage tank type water heater must have a standing pilot ALL THE TIME. How little the energy consumption
may be per hour (on average 500 BTU/Hour), it will still add up to your monthly gas bill.
The storage tank is big enough to fit a human body. Paloma's tankless water heater is smaller than a suit
case, slightly larger than a brief case.
INSTALLATION NOTE
Special Venting - The adapter, vent pipe, elbow, vent terminal, etc. should be
Stainless Steel Venting Material. Click here to order
EZ Seal venting pipe. The Paloma PH-16 water heater can only be installed with a horizontal vent termination.
You can have a vertical section not to exceed 16'5". If the vertical section exceeds 24", then you will
need to install the special Paloma Condensate Trap fitting.
